Thanks, China! They're now actively buying US equities, in addition to treasuries

China Investment Corporation, investing on behalf of the People's Republic of China, disclosed in an SEC filing that they're buying up shares of US companies and index funds.  The disclosure amounted to about $9.6billion worth of stock, a TINY amount both in relation to the equity markets and their vast reserves.  Interesting nonetheless though.

Among the biggest positions are in Blackrock and Morgan Stanley, likely because those firms are "in good" with the decision makers at CIC.
