A little afternoon freak-out over Cisco's big announcement tomorrow...watch out, tower companies...(CSCO, AMT, CCI)

Networking firm and AlphaNinja.com favorite Cisco (CSCO) is up3.2% on enormous volume today, as it makes a new 52week high. In addition to upgrades from JPMorgan and Wedbush, investors are in freakout mode over tomorrow's big announcement.

According to Cisco themselves, the news will forever change the Internet and its impact on consumers, businesses and governments.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - March 8, 2010 - Cisco will host a live media, blogger and industry analyst webcast Tuesday, March 9, at 8:00 a.m. (PST) to make a significant announcement that will forever change the Internet and its impact on consumers, businesses and governments.

When I hear those words, you know who I fear for?

The cellular tower operators, whose "leveraged to the moon" existence can only be supported by ever-increasing bandwidth necessitating more and more gear on their towers. If Cisco is able to offer game-changing technology that can do anything to ease the bandwidth congestion, well that is very very bad for the tower companies.

Others are worried too, sending shares of AMT and CCI off sharply, while competitor SBAC is off just a bit.
